Tax Specialist 
70-97k 

A.    Responsible for areas of tax compliance and planning activities for real property, personal property, and sales and use taxes.
1.    Prepare annual and monthly tax returns for sales, use, and property taxes required by multiple state and local jurisdictions.
2.    Lead government reporting compliance activities by researching and responding to notices and other correspondence received from tax authorities/jurisdictions.
3.    Support audits related to sales, use and property taxes, including gathering information and working with state and/or local auditors. 
4.    Represent the company in discussions with state, county and local tax officials.
5.    Negotiate tax settlements with tax authorities as required (manager approval required for final settlements over a predetermined threshold).
6.    Regularly monitor state and local tax law changes and filing requirements to ensure the company remains in compliance.
7.    Perform research and document findings on sales, use, and property tax issues when needed
B.     Support federal, state and local income tax filings.
1.    Assist with preparation of federal, state, and local income tax supporting work papers and tax returns. 
2.    Assist with research and document findings on income tax issues when needed.
3.    Assist with calculation of income tax provision for quarterly and annual financial statements.
C.    Maintain and improve tax filing processes and procedures.
D.    Responsible for the preparation of tax fixed assets.
E.    Responsible for the audit of suppliers.

III.    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 

Education: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Experience:
•    Greater than four (4) years of work experience in general accounting and/or cost accounting functions and academic preparation.
•    At least three (3) years of tax experience on a Federal, State, and Local level.

Personal/Technical Skills:
•    Broad understanding and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
•    General business knowledge.
•    Strong attention to detail.
•    Self starter with strong work ethic.
•    Basic math skills and analysis capability.
•    Ability to work cooperatively with multiple departments.
•    Ability to handle diversity in a multicultural work environment.
•    Strong analytical, organization, problem solving, and planning skills.
•    Ability to take initiative on assigned tasks without significant supervision.

•    Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work efficiently within time constraints and deadlines, and handle stressful situations.
