Senior Tax Accountant
Direct Hire
Hybrid Waltham, MA

Required:
  • Degree
  • Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations. C-corp and/or Partnership experience preferred.
  • Experience with direct and indirect tax

Preferred:
  • True depreciation experience strongly preferred
  • knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations
  •  C-corp and/or Partnership experience


Job Description:
The Senior Tax Accountant will be reporting to the Director of Tax and working closely with members of the accounting and tax teams, as well as with external consultants. In this role, you will contribute to many aspects of income tax. This includes assisting with tax depreciation, tax compliance, tax accounting, technical tax research, and various other matters related to the Company’s operations.

Responsibilities
 
  • Maintain tax depreciation reports for income tax purposes. Provide depreciation projections and tax basis summaries as needed.
  • Work with external tax preparers to assist with the filing of all federal, state, and local income tax returns, estimates and projections by gathering data, preparing tax depreciation schedules, mailing returns, and making tax return payments and estimates.
  • Support the quarterly and annual income tax provision process.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger tax accounts.
  • Assist with federal and state income tax audits by gathering and preparing all necessary documentation and correspondence.
  • Assist with the resolution of tax notices.
  • Support new business initiatives and acquisitions by providing timely and accurate tax advice.
  • Assist with the analysis and research of federal, international, state, and local tax matters.
  • Work with external auditors and other external consultants.
  • Monitor tax legislation (federal, state, local and international).
  • Support the development and implementation of standards and processes in accordance with the tax policies and internal controls. Suggest and implement process improvements to maximize efficiencies within the department.
  • Additional projects and administrative duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience should include 3+ years of work-related experience in public accounting and/or industry.
  • Knowledge of Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740).
  • Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations. C-corp and/or Partnership experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Sage Fixed Asset Software a plus.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including Microsoft Office Applications and tax research applications such as Checkpoint
