Senior Accountant

Function

Responsible for all accounting,  financial  and lender reporting for companies (Development & Construction business line).

Description

The Senior Accountant provides end to end bookkeeping, accounting and financial reporting for company including the underlying development projects (including joint venture projects). This includes preparing timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting to key stakeholders throughout the Company. The Senior Accountant shall report directly to the Financial Controller and provide any/all accounting support required for this business line. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the company’s leadership and development teams, actively participating in the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities 
  • All day to day accounting needs and the active development projects
  • Entity level monthly consolidated reporting for the company and subsidiaries including accounts payable approval, cash management, cash forecasting and financial reporting
  • Thorough understanding of all construction contracts, operating agreements, joint venture agreements, loan documents and other relevant legal documents
  • Provide detail and assist in the preparation of Development Project Financial Modeling/Forecasting, Annual company budgeting, Quarterly Project Budget forecasting, reconciling underlying job cost detail to original project budget and TB and analyzing variances for discussion with project management team and senior management
  • Contractor/Subcontractor and other vendor reconciliations with comparison to original signed contracts along with Contractor/Subcontractor Lien waiver tracking, accumulation and filing
  • Monthly construction loan requisition preparation and reconciliation of loan funding for review and approval.
  • Receiving, reviewing, and responding in a timely manner to all internal and external accounting/invoicing communications
  • Initiate and monitor this process issuing and collecting final Lien waivers, retainage release and final vendor payments
  • Preparation of anticipated cash proceeds for unit sales and loan pay downs.
  • Preparation of cost basis allocation and corresponding journal entries for property sales
  • Interaction with property management and legal counsel for Condominium setup prior to unit sales
  • Final project profitability analysis (Equity Cash Multiple, ROE, IRR)
  • Assist the Financial Controller with other accounting duties as may from time to to time be needed

Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP
    • 3-5 Years of Development Accounting experience
    • CPA or public accounting experience preferred.
    • Experience in accounting for job costs, real estate development, property rehab and construction
    • Experience in loan analysis and the monthly loan requisition process
    • High degree of accuracy, accountability and history of  consistently producing a quality work product.
    • Ability to multi-task and work with changing priorities in an entrepreneurial environment.
    • Advanced PC applications: Excel, Word, and Google.Working knowledge of Yardi Voyager and Sage 300.
