Job Description


The Sales Tax & Payroll Specialist is responsible for the compliance and reporting in the following financial functions: sales tax, payroll, and general accounting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Preparation and processing of weekly and monthly sales tax prepayments as required by taxing authorities.
  • Accumulation of sales tax information from various reports and prepare all monthly and/or quarterly sales tax returns and process payments.
  • Reconciliation of tax reports to general ledger activity and investigate variances.
  • Prepare and post sales tax related entries into the general ledger.
  • Manage the reconciliation and analysis of various general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of bank account balances daily. Verify disbursement activity to determine investment and borrowing options and prepare daily report for Controller and VP.
  • Prepare and post cash and payroll transactions to the general ledger.
  • Assist in the administration of the weekly employee payroll, resolution of timesheet and salary discrepancies, proofing of time management and payroll reporting.
  • Provide employee support for all inquiries relevant to the Ultimate UKG system, process and assist with any navigational difficulties.
  • Assist in the authorization of payroll direct deposit file and third-party vendor files being transferred to the bank.
  • Assist with the 401K withholding and general ledger posting file.
  • Provide supporting documentation for payroll tax transactions to support bank activity reconciliation.
  • Process weekly back-up withholding filing with IRS.
  • Assist in the administration of the record retention process for the Company.
  • Perform other duties and activities as requested.
   
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or related field preferred, plus a minimum of one to three years accounting and payroll processing experience required.  Possesses a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook is required.  This position requires a emphasis in Excel and must have strong knowledge of formulas ie, (vlookups, IF Statements, pivot tables).  Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
