Must Haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years experience with payroll, payroll processing or payroll systems
  • 1-3 years experience overall

Preferred:
  • SAP
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations/best practices is a plus.

Job Summary/Description:

Reporting to the Lead Payroll Administrator at this role is responsible for managing and processing faculty, staff, student, and non-agency temporary employee payroll. Primary duties include payroll system entry, employment eligibility verification, and payroll analysis to ensure proper payment and financial control. Other responsibilities include serving as a liaison with payees, internal departments, and other schools, colleges, and central administrative offices across the University to coordinate payroll and resolve issues. Provides training on payroll systems, policies, and procedures, and contributes to payroll system improvements and new system implementation.

50%
• Manage and process payroll for Online Program Facilitators
• Manage and process payroll for weekly paid hourly employees and student employees. Review and approve hourly time entries where required.
• Provide regular payroll management and processing support for the Lead Payroll Administrator and other Payroll Administrators for all areas of (including Summer Term, Center for Professional Education and Programs in Food & Wine).
• Perform organizational management-related actions on the payroll system, including creating new positions, maintaining positions, and processing of new hires/rehires and terminations.
• Ensure that all payroll activity strictly adheres to University and state/federal laws and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Serves as a key liaison between Finance and other departments, and other schools, colleges, and central administrative offices across the University to coordinate payroll and resolve issues.
• Research and use independent judgment to resolve and arbitrate payroll issues that arise with these constituents.
• Train staff and hiring departments on all aspects of payroll-related systems, policies, and procedures, as well as serve as a resource contact.

• Leadership role in conducting payroll data analysis on a regular basis, utilizing the University payroll system and internal accounting systems to identify payroll discrepancies. Pursue corrective action when necessary to resolve.
• Assist in various payroll analyses and reporting, such as position budgeting and salary expense projections.

• Participate in regular Finance staff meetings, and payroll-related meetings.
• Independently review documentation to verify employment eligibility and determine appropriate method of payment.
• Provide notice of impending deadlines.

• Assist with payroll system improvements and new software/system implementations.
