Job Location: Providence  Would prefer someone that can come into the office but will look at candidates in the New England and NY area).  Have to be able to travel into the office on a limited basis or when truly needed for meetings)

Job Summary/Description:
The Financial Controller will play a key role in the development, management, and enhancement of companies North American Accounting in coordination with the North America FD and the Group Financial Controller and Deputy CFO. 

This role will ensure compliance with accounting, regulatory and tax requirements via oversight to local audits, outsource firms and regulatory licensing relationships.   It will also coordinate closely with global Financial Control and CFO evolution/enhancement.
-Key point of contact for Compliance, Product, Treasury, Finance, Credit, and Operations to ensure all NA entities, products, legislation, etc. are implemented/overseen and optimized for growth.

-Implement and maintain proper systems, controls, and processes.

-Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual financials to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

      -Actively lead and contribute to finance and business optimization initiatives in and                       company-wide


ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Month-end Close / MC US Inc. Entity Accounting:
Oversight to monthly general ledger postings for the North America business including accruals, prepayments, payroll, etc. in conjunction with Group Financial Control team
Prepare the NA monthly reporting pack for Region & Group reporting purposes, including key movement/variance analyses
Identify, lead, and assist in process improvements / automation (local and group)
General Ledger:

Maintain and prepare reconciliations over relevant balance sheet accounts
Ensure the accuracy and alignment of both legal entity reporting and internal divisional reporting
Act as the key point of contact between back office and Finance (including accounting advice on the processing of non-standard cash flows)
Reporting & Audit:

Provide financial information to business stakeholders (internal and external) to assist in the preparation of reporting in line with local regulations
Prepare   MC US Inc. entity annual financial statements
Lead point of contact for external audit and regulatory reporting / exams
Maintain Permissible investment calculations in conjunction with North Americas Compliance and Group Treasury
Team Management:

Responsibility for evolution of, direction setting for, and monitoring of work and output quality for self and team
Heavy influence other aspects of North Americas  Finance team
Other Duties:

Assistance where required with preparation of annual budget and forecasts
Provision of ad-hoc analysis to Divisional Heads, Executive Team and Board
Assistance in group-wide project work as the company grows and evolves
Skills, Qualifications and Experience relevant to the Role:

Knowledge and Experience: 
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS accounting principles, along with proper control structures for US/Canadian entities.
Significant experience in financial control, financial audit, and management accounting required
Financial services, Fintech, or highly regulated industry experience is strongly preferred
Tax requirements and structure optimization a plus
Varied experience with ERP systems including usage and optimization
7 to 10+ plus years of related experience and progression
Skills:
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Highly capable working with complex and geographically diverse stakeholder groups to drive initiatives forward collaboratively
Strength in contribution from strategy to “in the weeds” detail and analytics
Present strong expertise, decisiveness, and humility in areas of uncertainty
Excel at both day-to-day execution and large project execution
Education: 

Relevant degree in Accounting and/or Finance
Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, ACA)
