Job Description
The Buyer/Planner will predominantly handle purchases from intercompany entities and will ensure that inventory levels are managed and maintained according to product demand. The role will be critical in maintaining stock levels for 95% on time delivery or better while reducing the overall stock value.
Main tasks of the role:
1. Purchase material and generate work orders as required to meet customer demand through daily review of Make/Buy Action Messages generated by ERP system.
2. Monitor and Manage Inventory / Safety Stock Levels to kept inventory as low as possible while maintaining a 95% or greater on time delivery to customers.
3. Maintain data elements associated with purchasing and production planning for passive explosion protection and static control products.
4. Enter and manage work orders for manufactured products.
5. Coordinate the purchasing efforts associated with new product development projects.
6. Visit suppliers to assess their capabilities.
7. Negotiate pricing - implement strategies (e.g. blanket orders) to improve pricing.
Responsibilities
1. Execute Purchase Requisition messages in a timely fashion
2. Manage Purchase Order dates to insure date integrity
3. Create and manage Production Work Order requirements
4. Interface with Operations to ensure work orders are completed as planned
5. Coordinate with domestic and international supply sources
6. Interface with freight forwarders handing international imports when necessary
7. Interface with multiple functions within organization
8. Assist with resolving non conforming purchase goods
9. Assist with resolving any purchase receipt discrepancies
10. Assist with resolving invoice to PO price or qty discrepancies
Experience & Skills:
-2-5 years experience as a buyer/planner in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
-Proven track record in managing the supply chain of a product line.
-APICS certification a plus.
-SAP
-Excel
-Good communication skills
