Job Description

The Sr. Benefits Administrator position is responsible for administering and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). This position provides excellent customer service and assists in evaluating and designing quality benefits plans. The Sr. Benefits Administrator continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and monitors benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators for eligibility/enrollment, billing and data transmission and verification. Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations. Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required filings (e.g. Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI) fee).
  • Coordinates daily benefits processing. Works with Third Party Administrator (TPA) to manage enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, and life claims, QMSCOs, and QDROs. Serves as primary administrator for associate retirements. Gathers employee data and oversees the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of check requests for payment of administrative fees, premiums, executive health, tuition reimbursement, and other miscellaneous payments as required.
  • Manages special projects as assigned to include new plan implementations, system upgrades, assisting with plan design, and new program/benefits evaluation.
  • Performs Health and Welfare Plan audits. Makes necessary corrections to billing invoices. Monitors month billing for accuracy. Assists in preparation and monitoring of annual budget. Initiates and coordinates benefit projects and annual events, including Eligibility/Enrollment Audits, Open Enrollment, Retirement plan audits.
  • Provides Customer Service support to internal (associates, HRBPs, Payroll, and management) and external customers (vendors and consultants).
  • Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the Company's benefits package. Works with broker and vendors to design and distribute materials for benefits orientations. Assists in development of design and content for Open Enrollment communications. Creates and conducts presentations using audiovisual tools, like PowerPoint

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Benefits Administration.
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Sec. 125, etc. Understanding of government regulations that impact Health & Welfare, and Wellness, and retirement programs (ACA, COBRA, SEC. 125, ERISA, HIPAA, EEOC, DOL, Medicare, etc.). 
  • Must be detail and customer oriented. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills. Average to Expert skills with Microsoft Office products. Must have basic excellent analytical skills.
