Job Description

HR Generalist 
$85-90k 

The Human Resources Generalist/Benefits Administrator supports the daily operations of the Office of Human Resources, and serves as the primary point of contact for all employees in assigned business units. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for the full cycle of recruitment, employee onboarding and onboarding, benefits and HRIS administration, training and development, employee relations matters, and overall department support

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Manage the applicant tracking system and coordinate all recruiting activities for assigned business units including, but not limited to position requisitions, job postings, resume tracking, applicant screening, and assisting with interview scheduling.

· On-board and off-board employees, conduct new hire orientations, and create orientation schedules for trainings and assist with community introductions.

· Conduct background checks, and track required trainings, and work authorizations.

· Manage benefit plan administration including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, unemployment, COBRA, commuter pass program, savings accounts, and reimbursement accounts.

· Monitor and process benefit provider invoices including unemployment questionnaires and reimbursable invoices.

· Process benefit plan enrollments and changes, ensuring compliance with policies and IRS guidelines; perform monthly benefit plan audits, and accurately maintain employee benefit files.

· Work closely with insurance broker to ensure we are offering a competitive suite of benefits and assist with full cycle benefit renewal process; analyze

benefit and compensation policies, government regulations, and surveys to develop competitive plans.

· Manage annual open enrollment process and qualifying events enrollments as needed.

· Assist with management of workers’ compensation program, performance appraisal process, tracking of paid time off.

· Responsible for administering employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, PFML, STD, and other employee-related leaves of absence.

· Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources on compensation administration and salary benchmarking.

· Assist with department budget management, providing accurate budget tracking and forecasts for all benefit plans

· Provide administrative support to the Office of Human Resources, i.e., sorting mail, filing, processing invoices, preparing presentations, tracking employee vacation, maintaining position descriptions, and completing annual surveys.

· Keep abreast of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting employment and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.

· Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to ensure accuracy on all employee benefit deductions and provide reporting as needed.

· Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to provide retirement plan audit support and assist on other special projects as needed.

· Provide access support and oversee benefits functionality in the HRIS.

· Manage the general office phone line and email account, responding to message within a reasonable timeframe.

· Provide backup support to other members of Human Resources team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree with at least three to five years of progressive Human Resources management, benefits administration, and compensation programs.

· Excellent judgment and strong discretion; ability to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner.

· Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with proven ability to demonstrate data interpretation.

· Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain processes and procedures clearly and efficiently.

· Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

· Experience with ADP HRIS database system preferred

· Experience in higher education preferred.

· Experience with employee relations.

· Experience with Google Suite and ADP HRIS database system preferred.
