Senior Technical Business Analyst - Accounting/Tax

Required: 
  • 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
  • 4+ years focused on tax and accounting systems.
  • Proven experience in eliciting requirements, creating user stories, and conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and provide clear, concise recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of effectively engaging with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in business analysis methodologies and tools (e.g., BPMN, UML, Agile/Scrum, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with SQL and familiarity with database concepts.
  • Experience with tax and accounting software or platforms.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Well versed to facilitate a meeting with multiple stakeholder Accounting logic
Preferred: 
  • CPA highly preferable
Job Description:
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst with a broad understanding of US accounting and tax principles and developing accounting/tax software. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with system development teams, eliciting requirements from accounting and tax professionals, developing comprehensive user stories, and assisting business stakeholders through the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process. This role involves close collaboration with both the system development team and accounting/tax professionals to ensure that the developed systems meet the necessary specifications and any applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Requirements Elicitation: Actively engage with accounting and tax professionals to facilitate requirements workshops and participate in backlog grooming sessions to gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements, ensuring a thorough understanding of their needs.
  • User Story Creation: Translate requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, making sure they are clear and comprehensive for the system development team.
  • Collaboration with Development Team: Work closely with developers, QA testers, and other team members to clarify user stories, resolve any ambiguities, and support the system design and development process.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Coordinate with accounting and tax professionals to develop and implement UAT plans, ensuring the final product meets all specified requirements and regulations, provide guidance on defect vs. enhancement categorization, assist with defect severity & priority ratings, and communicate defect findings to the development team, as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to current processes and systems, aiming to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements, user stories, test plans/scripts, and reports.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining accounting or tax concepts to development team members to ensure sound technical designs and solutions, as well as providing clear communication and understanding of project goals, progress, and outcomes.
